Levi and Ylläs run their biggest spring events 10–19 April 2026. Long daylight, full snow, lower prices: why April is the season's smartest week.
If you ski once in Lapland and pick the wrong week, you'll think it's expensive and crowded.
If you ski in mid-to-late April you'll find roughly the opposite of that: full snow cover,
14+ hours of daylight, the resorts at their loosest, and prices noticeably below the
December peak. The 2026 spring calendar at Levi and Ylläs has now been published, and the
dates worth marking down are concentrated in a single fortnight.
Easter 2026: Sunday 5 April. Easter week itself is busy and priced as such.
Ylläs–Levi Hiihto cross-country event: 10–11 April 2026, the season's signature fell-to-fell ski event (yllaslevi.fi).
Levi Ski & Snow Fest: 13–19 April 2026, week-long après-ski + concert programme on the slopes (levi.fi).
Lift 8 + South pome closes: after 19 April 2026 (levi.fi).
South Slopes area closes: after 3 May 2026 due to construction (levi.fi).
Daylight in mid-April Levi: roughly 14–15 hours and growing fast.
Why the second half of April is the smartest ski week
Three things stack up at once after Easter:
The snow is at its deepest. Cumulative cover peaks in March and holds
through most of April. The packed base on the main runs is generally as good as it gets all
season and at Ylläs the cross-country tracks are still groomed daily.
Daylight has come back. December gives you 2–3 hours of usable light at
Levi. Mid-April gives you 14+. You can ski morning, eat properly, ski again, and still get
a full evening. For families this changes the trip entirely.
Prices step down materially after Easter week. The Christmas–New Year peak
and February half-term peak are well behind you. Mid-April mid-week stays at major Levi and
Ylläs properties run noticeably below December rates at the same hotel, exactly when the

racing it's worth being in either resort for the weekend.

Week-long programme that takes over the slopes: après-ski, slopeside concerts, ski clinics,
evening events around the village. This is the loosest, sunniest, most social week of Levi's
season and the official "grand finale" before the lift system starts winding down.
Compare the same trip in two weeks of the same season:
Christmas week (20–27 December): 2–3 hours of skiable daylight, peak rates,
zero Easter-week deals, lift queues real, snow good but no better than April.
Mid-late April (13–19 or 20–26 April): 14+ hours of daylight, mid-week
rates often 30–40% below December at the same property, festival on the slopes, full snow
This is one of those situations where the obvious time to go is actually the wrong time.
December is the right call for first-timers and families chasing Christmas atmosphere, there's a
reason it's the busiest week of the year. But if your goal is ski quality + value ,
